“You can dance in the storm. Don’t wait for the rain to be over before because it might take too long. You can do it now. Wherever you are, right now, you can start, right now; this very moment.” – Israelmore Ayivor
The pursuit of the novel – the new. It’s what we stand for, here at theatrethreesixty. We don’t wait for the top of the wave, we create the winds that make waves. Reaching our full potential, even in challenging times – rain or shine. This year though, we’re making it our focus. RIGHT NOW.
You won’t be totally caught off-guard though. Our shows will always be the same actor-driven fare, in your face with every ripple of emotion that makes us known for pushing the envelope. At the same time – the moments we choose to share, they mean something. We’re making our stand in the world you live in, reaching out to you. From the nationwide touring of EVERY BRILLIANT THING by Duncan Macmillian, to a dark look at the world of THE PILLOWMAN by Martin McDonagh, and to our promised full staging of Arthur Miller’s seminal work – DEATH OF A SALESMAN, these stories of happiness, justice, suffering matter to us, and we want you to see them too.
It is not only the stories of others who matter – Malaysian voices are as important; ever more so in these turbulent, uncertain times. What better way than a Monologue Festival featuring writing from abroad and close to home? We’re also continuing to advance the pedigree of our local productions with local collaborations – making truly Malaysian works we can be proud of.
Our annual ACTOR’S GYM programme continues our education initiative, one we feel is sorely needed in recent times. No matter how the year turns out – we want to have made it better than the last. theatrethreesixty is committed to bringing better theatre, no matter where in Malaysia, for everyone – distance be damned.
This 2017, step out into the rain and join us in our audiences, or as part of us – there is more life out here to experience, and what better time, than RIGHT NOW.
theatrethreesixty is a Malaysian Theatre collective dedicated to telling the stories that we want to tell, by nurturing work from all walks of life, giving writers and actors safe spaces to experiment and grow to help pave the way for new Malaysian theatre.
